Vasavya Mahila Mandali (VMM)
www.vasavya.com
VMM has been working to help women, children and youth in Andhra Pradesh since 1969. It implements HIV-related programmes in ten districts, mainly focussed on the needs of women living with HIV, young people, maternal and child health, safe motherhood and integration of HIV services into the wider area of sexual and reproductive health (SRH).

Its vision is to promote comprehensive social, economic and political development for women, children and youth in vulnerable situations, thereby empowering communities in Andhra Pradesh to improve their quality of life and build a better civil society in India.

VMM’s strategic areas of work with the Alliance work are:
Health
As part of its mandate to work on health issues, VMM runs programmes on HIV/AIDS care, support and treatment, paediatric tuberculosis care and treatment, malaria prevention, SRH among adolescents and women, sexual health of migrant populations, prevention of parent to child transmission (PPTCT), prevention of blindness, and health education in school and communities.
Orphans and vulnerable children
VMM’s focus on orphans and vulnerable children is cross-cutting across all programmes. It includes children affected by HIV, children living with HIV, street children, adolescent girls in vulnerable communities, and children at risk of being trafficked.
Women and adolescent girls
VMM has programmes and community awareness sessions aimed at preventing violence, providing education and skill development, microcredit, promotion of traditional handicrafts, legal awareness, and shelter homes for girls and women in difficult circumstances.
