Supported by a secretariat in New Delhi and a regional office in Hyderabad, India HIV/AIDS Alliance comprises of five Linking Organisations and one State Partner, along with their networks of supported NGOs and CBOs. Alliance India also has vital implementing partnerships with a number NGOs and CBOs across India.
Linking Organisations (LOs)
Alliance India’s LOs are strong, independent, locally governed and managed organisations that serve as intermediaries in our response to HIV. They were already mature organisations with stable and independent sources of funding when they joined the Alliance India network; however, this relationship supported the integration and addition of HIV/AIDS programming into their existing programme portfolios and mobilised appropriate resources for this.
The LOs work within India’s National AIDS Control Programme and other government programmes and policies and contribute to scaling up of these efforts at both the local, state and national levels. Our LOs in India are:
1. Humsafar Trust (HST)
2. LEPRA Society (LEPRA)
3. MAMTA Health Institute for Mother and Child (MAMTA)
4. Palmyrah Workers Development Society (PWDS)
5. Vasavya Mahila Mandali (VMM)
State Partner
Building on notable experience of care & support programming and recognizing the HIV risk of injecting drug use, Alliance India established a strong partnership in Manipur with the pioneering Social Awareness Service Organisation (SASO) that primarily works for the health and rights of injecting drug users (IDUs).
Implementing Partners
One of the core objectives of our work is to build and harness local capacity. To this effect, we have partnered with many strong NGOs to implement our programmes. What binds us together is a core belief in supporting community action to reduce the spread of HIV and mitigate the impact of AIDS.
